    Splitting a database

I have never split a database before & would like some help please.

Once you split do you have to have a front end for each user, or does everyone use the same front end?

The best approach is to have an FE on the client machine. The User opens their own file, locally, on their machine.

The way my Database is Split is I have the Main Front End and Back End (Tables) on a Shared Drive on a Server.
Everyone on there personal pc's have there own Front End I have a Batch File that allows them to Copy the front End from the Drive on the server.
When I need to update the Database I just change the main front end then tell everyone to get out update and log back in and its clean simple and very easy.

So if I make copies of the front end & add the user to the file name (eg 4 front ends), they will all link to the same back end?

Just trialled splitting a database - why do the tables still show in the front end & allow changes etc?

Also, in the back end it now only shows the tables - do I have to amend/create forms etc in the front end?

    Slightly confused!!

With every front end you have you have to make sure that they all have this symbol this shows that they are all linked by the same back end

    How to Link:
-When your in Main back end Go to each table and check for linked symbol
-If not there right click then hit import accdb
-import Tables from Backend and replace the Local tables in front end w/ linked back end
-When importing you will get a rename table thing just add a 1 then for testing purposes rename old tables and make sure all data and records are current
