Unparsable Record error while importing data to a multivalue field

Hello experts.

Im trying to import data from excel into access. Everything goes fine except one multivalue field that reports "unparsable record".



I researched a little and found that fields with " get this error, but Im trying to populate a multivalue field, separated by commas.

Any idea why this happens?

Otherwise, How can I import multivalue data from excel to access?

A multi-value field is a data storage feature peculiar to Access. A multi-value field cannot be populated by a CSV text string, nor can the import wizard or TransferSpreadsheet method save multiple values to the field.

What you might have is a simple text field and saving a text string. I tested importing spreadsheet with the quotation mark ( " ) in values and it worked. However, did not try to parse the values as the wizard did not even offer the choice.

p.s. don't use multi value fields in access, they are a bad, bad, bad idea and very hard to manage. Better to build yourself a normalized structure.

Thanks everyone. I guess I will keep away from multivalue fields now that you recommended against them.

Im going to create another thread about this "normalized structure" you speak of, rpeare, cuz Im not even sure what that is hahah
