user level security and splitting access db

    Hello,
Do I split access (2003) database first? then set up user level security? or first install user level security?
I read after you split database- users can drag copy of front end database to their computers off the network. Does that mean they drag a copy of front end databse and copy of log in shortcut file?

If I split databse first - Do I install uls on both databases? and is this possible?
    thank you

    Install ULS first.

Do not use the split wizard.

    Copy the ULS Database.

Delete Tables in one and everything else in the other.

    Then link the tables.
