Using the front end of an access database on a mac?

    Hi all,

Is it possible to use the front end of a database I have made on a mac whilst the back end resides on the server? If so how would this be possible? Also would it work with a VPN connection if using the database outside of the server building? I have a couple of people who want to use their macs so just checking into this.

To the best of my knowledge Access won't run natively on a Mac. You can use any of several technologies to put a Windows virtual machine on the Mac, or use some type of terminal server/remote desktop method to connect to a Windows environment.

As to running over a VPN connection, it may work but the performance can vary widely depending on how the app was designed and the speed of the connections.
