Is there a way to edit the defaults on the import wizard. For example, I would like the "First Row Contains Field Names" to be checked.
?
Thanks!!!!

You can save your import or export process and give it a name that can be called using VBA and I believe Macros too. So it does not affect the default settings for the wizard but, it will precisely duplicate the entire import process.
I did think about some VB but was hoping to just change that one setting.. thanksf or responding!!!!
You can use the Access Ribbon, under External Data, to manually run your saved Import procedure.
So that was my next question .. Is there a way to add a custom comand to the ribbon? I would rather have the button on my custom section of the ribbon if thats possible? thanks!!!!
Have you looked into it?
From the Back Stage, click Options> Customize Ribbon. From there you can create a new group to store a new custom ribbon. If you want it to go straight to the import process without a Macro may be the best. Don't know because I don't bother with the options described. I use VBA.
Can you take a vb module and launch that from a button on the ribbon? I was wondering if there is the ability to add a custom button linked to my vb and put it on the ribbon. Thanks again!!!! Fred
Like I mentioned, a macro may be the best approach if you want to use the Ribbon. I really don't know because I do not use the Ribbon for a User Interface in my apps. If you store your Import procedure in a Standard Module as a Public Function, I believe you can call it from a macro. Launch said macro from your custom Group in your Ribbon.
