    automate import from file share

Is there a way to automate and import to access from files that sit in a file share?

I would like to use FTP to get a file daily, then run a scheduled task that would open access and then import those files and run a macro or vba. I am thinking i could set up and automacro to run when the database opens but I dont want someone to accidentally open it and try to run the import.

Is there a good way to import straight into access from a file share?

Thank you , that is very good information to have and is very helpful. However, i dont really have a problem with the ftp part. I am really looking for a way to get the data into the access database without any user interaction. I will already have the files where I want them on the network share I am looking for the best way to get them into Access on a scheduled basis early in the morning.

The only thing I can think of is to make a new small database that links to the main table and has an autoexec macro that imports and processes the data and then closes the database. Is there a better way to get data into an access database without user intervention?
    Thanks
