Table Design View shows data type 'Number' but Datasheet view displays linked text- ?

Per subject line, when I open the table in datasheet view it displays linked text values from another table in what is designated a number field. I cannot seem to change this behavior. I want to see what is really in the field, not the linked information. Where/How can I change the behavior?
I'm a newbie to Access 2010, but not Access or databases in general. I'm more familiar with Access 2003 and 97. Many thanks!

When you open a table in DS view you will be looking directly into the fields. If a field is of data type text, you will see the literal text for the given field. I am not familiar with a data type that allows you to view data that is linked. You can use OLE objects in forms that will display stuff from elsewhere.

Are you referring to a field that is displaying literal text that is a hyperlink? You click the text and it links you to an outside file, folder, etc.?

OK. Found it. In the Lookup field property there is a combo box with a query. I shoulda known! Closing thread.
