    Tracking Inventory At Multiple Locations

    Hello.
What tables and forms would you use to track inventory at multiple locations? I would want users to be able to transfer an inventory between warehouses, as well as receive items from suppliers and sell items to customers. At the end of the month, I'd want to review my transactions and know where my inventory is (i.e. what warehouse or if it was sold). I know this is a lot to ask and there are commercial solutions available; any help is appreciated. Thank you.
    Dustin

Warehouse Management Systems are not a simple topic. I would not be able to provide answers to your questions until after spending a great deal of time understanding your specific business rules. Describing that there are multiple warehouse locations, vendors, clients, and inventory is not enough.

    You would need to study...

    How Customer PO's are generated
Distinguish a main PO from packing list details(How many tables to manage inventory/Details)
Associate Packing lists to PO's (Vendors, Sold to, Consigned to) and how this relates to the client
Determine pick and pack principles (How to break down packing list details)
    Determine inventory methodology (LIFO?)
Determine Unique Identifiers for (Vendors, Clients, Staff so each unit and or pieces can be tracked)

    and so on....

Depending on the size of operations, it would take at least two weeks to begin to have a model on paper.

Thank you for the quick response. You are right about this being a complex topic.

    Dustin,

THere are excellent tutorials at http://www.rogersaccesslibrary.com/forum/topic238.html
I recommend you review E-R Diagramming and 12 Steps to Better Database topics and then work through some of the Examples.

    Good luck.
