Question Why? Created new field on form; entering data into new field goes also into old field

I am a beginning user, probably obvious. I used Layout View and clicked on Add Existing Fields and got a list of all my fields on an existing form.

Then, I dragged one over into a blank part of the form.

Then I saved the Access file, and moved back into Form View to start entering data into my new field.

Pretty sure I did this before and all was fine, but this time when I add info, it also simultaneously populates the "old" field as well as the "new" field.

What am I overlooking and how to fix this?

    Thanks!
    Julie

I am watching tutorials and reading online about fields but so far no spot-on discussion of this. I'm sure I'll find something but figured I'd asked people on the forum in case you can help. Thank you...

I want to add a NEW field, not sure if I can do that by pulling from Add Existing but it seemed like that is what they were saying in the online instructions.

Solved. Darn this database world. Lots of steps to get there. Added new field so that I could then add existing field. Whew. Problem self-solved. Of course !
