seleecting or filitering forms in a record

    Hi

not sure if i've posted this in the correct forum but..
i have two forms 1. appointment book 2. Receipts

the two are linked via a common field named "day id" which is a date field. They also have a common number field named "DATE ITEM" which is a number.

I am trying to design a button with a macro attached that for a given day, will filter the receipts form to show only the receipts for that given day. S, 10 people may have paid on 10 November, so if i click the macro on the appointment book record for 10 november, i would like to see those only records in the RECEIPTS form.

I have tried doing this via instructions from online and a text book but have been unsuccessful I have used in the macro, amongst other things, open the Receipts form, in the where argument [date item]=[forms]![appointment book]![date item] but it doesn't work

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

I can actually do something in a macro using the find record action, 9 based on the [date item] field, but that only gives me one record. I tried using the apply filter but not sure how to use it so that all those specific records for that dae are displayed.

ok I've sorted this out using a macro with the actions: open form, gotocontrol (date item), findrecord (=date item), and runcommand (filter by selection) and it works. It just seems to be a long way around? I thought there was a more straightfoward way but it works so that's what matters I guess.
