Question Column history - date and time stamp

    Hi,

I'm quite new to Access, and got an (simple?) question I hope anyone can help me with!
I've got an long text field with logging, and an field within an form with column history. Is there a way to turn of the date and time stamp and the column history field?

I could be wrong as I'm looking at ac2010, but I do not believe the ColumnHistory is automatic. Maybe if you posted your db, we could play with it some. Remove any sensitive data of course and zip it up before posting.

Hi and thank you for the reply,

I can see that my profile isn't updated; I'm using Access 2013..
Attached you will find my db. It is based upon the template "activum" (not sure what it is called in English...), and is fairly simple. The issue is ragarding the form "Aktivadetaljer" and the tab "Servicehistorikk". I want to write the date and corresponding text in the text box, and the logging function works quite well, but I don't want the version information to show (date and time of change).

    Link for download!

    The db is called "Aktiva"

Before I download your db, it now sounds like you like *some* of the features of the ColumnHistory() function but not all of them. I doubt there is any way to modify an intrinsic function of VBA but there is certainly a way to duplicate the functionality by writing your own function in VBA. Are you willing to do that?

I have no experience by writing VBA for Access (altough I have written tons of VBA for Excel), so I don't think that will suit me...
Then I will just use the ColumnHistory as it is!

Thank you again for the reply

Doing an AuditTrail for a control on a form is not very complicated and Allen Brown shows one way to do it: http://allenbrowne.com/AppAudit.html
