Paste greyed out on form for Hyperlink field

I have been looking for answers for hours, but just do not seem to exist. I have a database that is tracking files in a repository but currently the database and the repository cannot talk to each other. As part of data being tracked, I have people copying the web address where the file is located so from the database they can link directly to the file.

From the form when I right click on the field in question, the paste option is greyed out (copy is available). I have attempted to troubleshoot and attempted linking that field to different queries or the main table, no luck. All other fields on the form, have the paste option, just this one field. I have attempted to create a new field in the database table with the hyperlink attribute and the new field has the same restrictions.

The question is, is there a way to allow users to paste the hyperlink into the database? I want it as a hyperlink field so from the database they can just click the link to go to the document. The current database is a split database hosted on corporate network. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not into a Hyperlink field type. Must use the Hyperlink dialog. It is possible to programmatically construct/edit hyperlink.

I opened a new database on my local desktop and created a simple table and form with a hyperlink field. I was able to type and/or copy and paste text like http://www.test.com. So why on my actual database can I not type or paste into the same type of field?

I am not sure then what you mean not into a hyperlink field because I was able to do it in a new database. Is there a way to figure out why just this one field is greyed out of those actions on my primary database.

Sorry, I must have been thinking of Attachment type field. I just did the same test and I could paste into hyperlink field.

Cannot replicate the issue. If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.
