Unrecognized Database Format (MSACCESS 2013) Issue

Alright so yesterday I opened a file on one of our other servers (we'll call it 01) and corrected an entry in one of the tables used for a drop down. I have Access 2013 installed on my desktop. 01 doesn't have access installed on it at all. Later in the day after I accessed the file, ALL .accdb files on 01 accessed by anyone (or even pulled over to another desktop and opened) now give the Unrecognized Database Format error and I have been searching all morning for an answer to this issue and none of the answers I've come across have helped (or I can't even do them, such as trying to compact and repair since I get the error if I do that or try to import the data).

What I don't understand is how is it that I modified on file on 01 and then all of the sudden EVERY .accdb file on the server is hit with this error? I have 2013 so even if it was an issue of modifying in a newer version of Access, shouldn't I still be able to open it myself?

Has anyone had this issue in 2013? It's obviously not an error limited to the server because even if I pull the files over to me desktop, I still receive the error. Please, if anyone has any insight into this let me know. I'm pulling my hair out at this point.

Sounds like malicious mischief. It may not have anything to do with your interaction with 01, as you have described it.

Maybe you can start by checking a copy of one of the file's attributes on your local machine. Make sure it didn't get switched for something like system file, etc.

Can you explain a little more about how you would go about doing that? I'm not sure what you mean by checking the file's attributes.

EDIT: Under properties of the file, under the attributes section, there is Read-only and Hidden, neither of which are checked. In advanced, File is read for archiving and Allow this file to have contents indexed in addition to file properties are checked, the other compress/encrypt ones are not.

Make sure you are using your copy. You will probably have to go to command line and get the info. Let me see if I have some reference info. I don't see system file attributes in the properties window of the file.

Not sure if this is the problem. But.....

With full admin rights you can type or paste the following into your Run propmt

    attrib -r -s -h C:\Test\Test.txt

This will change the attributes for Read Only, System File, and Hidden to No.

You can also type this directly into the Comand Prompt Admin level. Make sure you have the correct path and file extension.

    Reference:
    Parameters

    +r : Sets the read-only file attribute.
    -r : Clears the read-only file attribute.
+a : Sets the archive file attribute.
-a : Clears the archive file attribute.
+s : Sets the system file attribute.
-s : Clears the system file attribute.
+h : Sets the hidden file attribute.
-h : Clears the hidden file attribute.

Not sure what else to suggest. I would be looking at the file size, extension, etc.

You have already been trying the usual routines so...

Yup. Importing/trying to compact and repair will not work. As soon as you try to import or C&R it throws the same error.
