PDF output file does not show the text as bold

I created a report that looks great in 'print preview' and printed on hard copy as seen in the 'print preview' screen. I want to create a pdf file that I can send to the printer.
Problem: The text that I've bolded does not show up as bold. Instead, they look like 'normal'.

    • I have used the Property Sheet to set their Font Weight to Heavy.
    • I have created the pdf file using both the 'standard (publishing online and printing)' and 'minimum size' optimization options.

None of the above made any difference.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Any solution?

The problem does not show up when I change to a different font type. Ariel by itself does not work. But Ariel Bold, or Ariel Narrow + Bold seems to work fine.
