    Thumbs up Query Issues

    Hllo all,

I have a table; TBLMaster a list of document numbers and titles and another TBLAssoc. and a one to many relationship between Main.ID and Assoc.ID

The purpose of TBLAssoc is to record which documents are associated with which ones in TBLMaster. As it happens the associated documents are also ones in the master list.

So say I have 3 docs in TBLMaster:
    ID Title
    1 Fly Fishing
    2 Fly Tying
    3 Fly Casting

in TBLAssoc I hold the following

    ID mainID
    1 2
    1 3

So document 1 Fly Fishing in TBLMaster has documents 2 Fly Tying and & 3 Fly Casting associated with it.

In the main table I can therefore click on the + and see the records associated with any Main.ID that I choose. That’s OK but I would like to be able to show the titles of the sub documents (but not hold them as that’s inefficient).
I think I need to create a query (ies) to do this but I can’t seem to get the title in the displayed query not to show the parent title rather than the daughter.
I know that I could probably get something working by using a lookup but if I recall correctly lookups are to be avoided.

I can’t remember enoughhAccess-speak to form a question that will get me to the correct Help section

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

    Tony

Lookups with alias should be avoided in tables. Use them in comboboxes on form. So my advice is to build a form to interact with data.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
