Storing form text field to database

I have created a form in Access 2010 where I have a combo field where I can select a slot machine theme name. When I do that it automatically fills the next two text fields with the theme version and operating system. All this data comes from a Themes table. I've gotten the Theme name to save to the main_table but the Version and Operating System entries on the form are text boxes and won't save to the main_table table.

I know you'll probably ask if you have the information in one table why duplicate it in another? Well I will eventually want to generate a report showing casinos and service calls which should include the theme I worked on and it's associated version and operating system.

    Any thought's

Sorry, but that's still not a reason to store all of that redundant data! You store the 'slot machine theme name' in the current Table, and when you go to generate your Report you simply retrieve the other data again! That's how Relational Databases work.

The problem with making anything foolproof...is that fools are so darn ingenious!

Agreed, don't duplicate data. Build query that joins tables to compile related data in a report.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
