Access 2010 Not Showing User Level Security Tools

I have an mdb with ULS. In Access 2007, there was a button showing automatically on the Database Tools tab. There isn't one showing in 2010. I'm sure the command is in Access, but I don't know what it's called to find it in the Commands Not in the Ribbon list. Can anyone help?

I didn't find any answers in those articles. The Microsoft articles essentially said that User Permissions will appear when you open an mde with ULS. I remember seeing it on the Database Tools tab, but that might have been when I was still using 2007. I tested it on my home computer, runnng 2010, and found that User Permissions, User Accounts, etc. were also missing. Somewhere I read that you could put the commands on the Ribbon using Customize Ribbon, but I have no idea what to look for. I need to make a permissions change, so it's important that I find out what to do. Unfortunately, I no longer have a copy of 2007 installed.

    You saw this right

    What happened to user-level security?

User-level security features are not available in databases that use one of the new file formats (.accdb, .accde, .accdc, .accdr).
I don't use ULS but I did some googling and found it has been dropped in 2010. I never had 2007 so can't comment.

You might try some other forums, or ask security specific questions.
    Good luck.

I have found the answer for myself. The instructions on the following page are erroneous -- the ULS commands were automatically added to the Database Tools in Access 2007 if you have an mdb with ULS already set up. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ac...010234561.aspx

In Access 2010 that is not the case, but you can still access ULS.

For anyone else who also needs this:
In Access 2010, you have to add a custom tab to the Ribbon (not QAT).
    1. Click File->Options.
    2. Click Customize Ribbon.
    3. In the Customize the Ribbon panel on the right, click New on the lower left. (New Tab (Custom) appears with a New Group (Custom) underneath.)
    4. Rename as desired.
    3. Click All Commands on the Choose commands from list in the left panel. (Be sure your new tab is still selected when you take the next steps.)
    4. Scroll to User.
    5. Select the following commands and click Add: User and Group Permissions and User and Group Accounts. (If you select Users and Permssions, it's a single object with a list containing User and Group Permissions, User and Group Accounts, and User-Level Security Wizard (most on this forum recommend not using).
    6. Click OK. (A message appears stating that you must close and reopen the database for these changes to take effect.
    HTH someone else!

Nice to be able to share as opposed to "taking." I've learned just about everything I've learned about Access from these and other forums and their generous contributors!
