What is Reputation ?
I see I have a few on my settings page.
Can I buy something with them if I get a lot of them?

Thanks June7.
Not much. Some forum sites display rep total in member posts and/or on their public profile for other members to see. Since not seeing that setup here, it is mostly just feedback to the receiving member. Rep might be a factor in the display of status blocks you see below your member info at upper left of post.

On other forums (long ago...), "Reputation" (how ever they called it) was a way to judge how accurate/helpful a responder might be.
If Responder-A had 500 posts and a "Rep" of 420, the majority of the OPs thought Responder-A answered the question exceedingly well/correctly/reliably.
If Responder-B had 2,503 posts and a "Rep" of 120, the majority of the OPs might have thought:
the majority of responses was incorrect,
he/she didn't answer very many questions in relation to the number of questions posted, or
the majority of the OPs were too lazy to give "reputation" to the responder (the answer of questions), or
the majority of the OPs didn't understand why reputation should be given.
