    Compact on Close

I have just found that "package and sign" unticks - the option compact on close (maybe it's the unpacking that does that but hey)
I have looked at compact and repair by VBA there seems to be a lot of suggestions out there
    has anyone had experience here
    Thanks

Pay particular attention to Roger's fourth point! Paradoxically, as he pointed out, compacting is a recognized cause of corruption and should only be done after making and safely storing a backup copy of the database.
