Hi all,
I am looking for a solution replacement for Citrix which allows a Microsoft Access built Programs to run from the server as a thin client, rather than the method we have considered whereby we route a drive and link a shortcut to the server application .accdr file (running via file sharing).
This method is extremely resource intensive on the local computer as files are being addressed from across the network, and then Microsoft Access still requires local memory to function as the application window.
The following considered:
- They require multi-user access
- Unfortunately Citrix is out of the question (even though this would be ideal) and any other third party application is not an option either (free or not).
- The client requires that the application be launched from the browser (through the remote IP) and initiate a remote session whereby the Access application uses only server resources (The application mustn’t open inside of the browser either).
- The client is looking to access the application using the above method through the company Intranet, then they will use Citrix for external access to the server (to run the application)
The question is:
Is there a way to access a Microsoft Access designed application as a thin client without using RD, Citrix, or any third party application but within the nationwide VLAN? (Or at least by using as little local memory as possible)
Kind regards,
Jason
