Import or link fields via ODBC

I downloaded a program that uses an Access Database. I don't have the source for the application. I need to know if there is a way to link the fields from the Access Database to fields in another database via ODBC. Even having a way to import data once per day would probably work as well. I don't know VB and I am pretty new to Access, but I have experience with PHP/MySQL.

What version is the Access database?
Is it an MDB or MDE or 2007 equivelant?
    Is it passwrod protected?
    Does it actually contain tables?

    More info needed

Thanks for taking time to help. The database is in Access 2000 format and I am using MS Access 2003. The file extension of the database is MDB. I'm not reallysure what the difference is between MDB and MDE but I hope that helps. It is not password protected and it already has the tables and fields in it.

Then in that case if you use the Link Table Manager you should be able to link to the tables in the source mdb.

File > Get External Data > Link Tables

Then follow the steps in the wizard.

I did manage to get that far but the program that uses the database is using specific tables and specific fields. Is there a way to link specific fields based on a query or primary key?

What you do is link the table from the remote mdb into the local mdb, then use queries to isolate certain fields, recordsets based on PK's.

The problem is that I don't have the source for the program and it looks for data in a certain table and certain fields. I might be screwed on this one.

When you say you don't have the source for the program what are you actually saying?

Can you see the file in your browser?
Do you know the name of the table you want to connect to?

What I mean is that I don't have the source code for the program. I can see everything and I know the table that I am connecting to. The program already has a table created with fields already defined.

So what is your problem? If you can see the mdb and you know the table name, why can you not link the table to your mdb? Anyway what do you want to link to that table for?

Can't understand your issue re source code for the program? Can you explain.
