Need help with data entry from forms view, dealing with money deposits and spending.

Good day, I have built my first simple database in access 2013. Now I need to enter data; using a form I
created I enter a value for opening deposit, the start of the money flow. I need this value to also go into
the balance field. In the forms design view I selected the on enter option and entered the string below,
the table shows that the new balance value entered is accepted but the balance stays at 0.

    =[opening deposit] = [balance]
The above expression does not give an error but does not work I suspect the second = is not a valid
way to say send value to balance. I am stuck here.

It is easier for readers to respond when they understand your set up and what you are trying to do. Can you tell us more about your database? Do you have a jpg of your tables and relationships?
There are a number of free data models at

If you click database tools, Relationships you should get a diagram/screen showing your tables and relationships.
Try it and post the result.
    Good luck with your project.

I looked in the Relationship view, only the table shows up!

I was not able to find an attach file option, only pics and video.

Did you look at any of the free data models at the link in my previous post?

When you design/build a database, you usually start with the known business facts; identify tables; normalize tables; and create relationships.
There is a tutorial here: http://www.rogersaccesslibrary.com/T...lationship.zip
