Access 2007 Query to Excel 2007, Error 3274, External Table is not in Expected Format

I have an Access 2007 macro in which the last statement in the macro uses the TransferSpreadsheet action. This action moves the results of a query to a worksheet in a workbook. I get an error 3274, "External table is not in expected format", when the workbook is closed. But if I open the workbook and then launch the macro it will start loading data into the worksheet (it's very slow). Any ideas?
