Question zip a secured accdb and reduce its size?

Is it possible to zip a password-secured accdb and actually reduce the size? My zip utility, via a shortcut in Windows Explorer, gives no error but the resulting zip is exactly the same size as the accdb. Presumably because the accdb is secured and the zip utility can't interrogate it.

Advice much appreciated, this situation must have been a problem for other developers but I cannot find anything about it anywhere...

You may wish to run a compact and repair to reduce the size if you have been making design changes. I do not know about the specific issue you are having, however.

Thank you, but even after compacting, zipping will compress an Access file to a fraction of its size, which is what I'm trying to achieve.
