Unhappy Access suppressing messages, forcing me to save queries

If I create an update query using query design and run it, I don't receive a message that says "# rows will be updated, would you like to update" with the option of choosing Yes or No. If I run it, it executes but doesn't show me how many rows were updated or anything. Also, when I close the query (I don't want to save it), it shows me a box that says "Save As". It forces me to save it.

I somehow did this to myself within the last 10 minutes, but I have no idea what I did. I want these messages back and I want the ability to not have to save every query I run in design mode.

Any thoughts/ideas? THANK YOU for your help!!!
