    Totally lost!!

Sorry, if I am in the wrong place, but here's what I need to do, and I'm not entirely sure if Access can do this:

I have info on jobs I want to keep track of (*address, order number, client number, notes, etc) and I want them stored so when I need to search for a certain order number I can. I want to fill this info out on a simple form and hit submit and it go into the database

Is this possible? Or if not or something easier can be used any suggestions?

There will be ten fields I need filled out and only one or two be searchable.

    THANKS for ANY info

I'm a newbie here, but here is my two cents: It is possible. Have you looked at the free sample templates that come with Access? They can be modified to fit your need.

And there are more templates at

Your requirements sound fairly simple. If you want to write-your-own, Google "database normalization". The most important thing is to have a good structure. Start designing your structure using pencil and paper. Then ask questions here.

Good luck with your project. It should be fun and frustrating.

I agree with Steve- get your design started. And here is a link that has a process and an example

Ok, after tinkering I got it figured out. I created a (*table design) And the put in the field info. I then created a form from that table. I got it! But now my question is when I search by order #, is there a way to see the result in form view rather than in the table?

Create another form with the fields that are in your query. Make the recordsource for the form your query.

Ok so to clarify, even though I have a form to INPUT the info, to make my searches show up in a form rather than table (*by order number for example), I will have to create a second form? If so how do I do this?
