    Convert Secured 97 to a Secured 2010?

I work part time for a local company that is still stuck in the Access 97 world. So far all I have done is revise existing databases. Their corporate masters will not allow an upgrade to Access 2010 for all users, but they do have a few licenses. Their IT department has learned about runtime and they want me to do the revisions in 2010.

One of the 97 databases is secured. Can a secured 97 database be converted to a secured 2010 database? Will the switchboard be in the conversion? Would the old workgroup file remain “attached”?

How to decode an A97 db?

I am trying to convert a SECURED Access 97 db to A2007 and later to A2010. I tried to open the db in A2007 via a shortcut using the original developer’s name and password. I get the error message “You are trying to convert an encoded database. Decode the database, then try again.” How do I decode the database?

I am NOT a programmer; just an amateur looking for help, so thanks in advance.
