run a report based on a user entered value in a combobox.

Looking for a quick pointer on the following requirement...

1. Run a report, the source of which is a query.
2. the query has a variable which the user must choose from a combo box.
3. The combo box is a list of values from a table. - this point is fine, i did this.

So the tricky part is 1 and 2.

I was playing around with creating a query and using a function name as the criteria for one of the columns. And I had a form containing my combo box. But i'm not sure how to display the form from my function (which is just in a module), and then access the value of the combo box from the function.
