Link tables to server name, not mapped drive letter in Win 7

I manage a database that is split into front end and back end. The back end is on a server all users have access to. I cannot figure out in Win 7 how to link the tables in the front end to the backend server (\\mvnf02) rather than to a mapped drive letter. Because the staff may use different drive letters for the server, it's important to use the server name.

I'm sure I went through Network Places in XP, but under Network in Win 7 is only a list of the machine names for our staff. Can you help? I have some important fixes to the front end that I need to distribute to users.

On my machine (Win 7 Pro) the names of servers are also listed. In any case, you should be able to type in your UNC path in the address box.

This is my first introduction to Win 7 -- you mean the box at the top of the screen like the URL box in Explorer? (I can't test right now because I'm not in the office, in case you're wondering.)

Will go to the office tomorrow and give it another go. Thanks. I'll wait until I've completed my task to mark this answered.

Worked perfectly -- all tables linked properly. Thanks. Now for a really dumb question -- how do I mark the post as solved?

Happy to help. You can mark it solved in Thread Tools at the top of the thread (and it's not a dumb question). Welcome to the site by the way!

Thanks Paul for the welcome. I used to be a regular visitor to the old forums, but haven't done too much Access work recently. BTW: I see what you meant by "not a dumb question." I wouldn't have thought to look at Thread Tools!!! Thanks again.
