cannot update subform after updating another subform and keep mainform open

I have main form that shows schedule for a particular class ( use combo box to select class)

I have subform that shows every body that is in particular class (linked to main form by chosen class)
I have another subform that that shows who needs to take the class (I open this form using navigation form)
I take the ID of who has not taken class from needs class form and enter it into subform showing who is enrolled in class
Then I requery subform listing who is in class and subform is updated
However, I need the subform of who needs classes to update withoug closing the window and staying way I am. Can't even seem to select form and am wondering if it is because I am opening the form using a navigation form

I can't reconcile the image with the description in post.

Are these subforms set with Modal property Yes?

I have little experience with navigation forms. Only experience from few times I have worked with posters on issues. I don't like them, probably because I don't like macros (use only VBA).

You might have to provide db for analysis for anyone to effectively help. Follow instructions at bottom of my post.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
