    Importing data from Excel

    Hey guys!

I'm designing a departmental database for Theology at my university. These people have saved all their data in an excel file until now. I was wondering if there is a way of importing the data from excel into my tables in Access. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks!

The short answer is yes, you can import from excel.

You can use the 'transferspreadsheet' method native to excel (it will require some coding on your part).

The long answer is unless all the spreadsheets are in exactly the same format you're going to have a tough time compiling the data correctly. Additionally they are not likely set up in 'normalized' way which may mean some additional post processing to organize your data.
