Problems opening Access MDB file with Access 2007.

I have an Access .MDB file that was created by a co-worker who is no longer at our department. I believe it was created with MS-Access 2000. I can open the .MDB file with MS-Access 2000 with no problems. It does not prompt for a user id or password.

When I try to open the same .MDB file with MS-Access 2007 I get a message: You do not have the necessary permissions to use the ‘c:\ path and file name of .MDB file I’m trying to open’ Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

I don't know. How can I tell if it is a trusted location? It is in subdirectory on my local hard drive.

Thanks for getting back to me. I don't see the Access Options, or Options ... buttons when I try to open my database. I've attached a screen print. How to I change the Access Options when it will not let me open the DataBase?? I appreciate your help with this. Thank You.

OPen Access directly, not by double clicking a shortcut or an mdb file.

thanks. Okay, I added the directory, (where the 2000 db is stored), as a trusted location, but I still get the same error message when I try to open 2000 database. It is stored on a local drive, not a network drive.

Try moving the mdb to your MyDocuments folder just as a test. Are you opening Access 2007 first and then File>Open?

I moved the mdb file to MyDocuments folder and get the same error.

I than tried making the MyDocuments folder a Trusted Location. Since it's on the network, I had Allow trusted locations on my network. Still same error.

I tried just double clicking on the File. I also tried opening Access 2007 first, than File > Open. Both ways give me the same error.

MyDocuments folder is on the network, it's a network mapped drive.

Hmm...strange. Still, we are probably going down the wrong road. Do you have the same problem if you open ac2007 and then try and import the older mdb?

Any chance you can post the db? I've got acXP and ac2007. Remove and sensitive data with your ac2K if needed.

I will probably not be able to post the mdb file. But that question has helped a lot!
I opened the mdb with Access 2000 to see if I could clean up the data. I found there is one table that I can not open. When I try to open that table I get this error:

Could not read definitions; no read definitions permission for table or query . . .

I am guessing that this is my problem. Now a very basic question. When I open the mdb file with Access 2000 it does not ask me for a user id/password. How do I open the mdb file using a different User Id password?

Thank you for all your help.
