    Input Parameter Not Working

    Hello!

While I have built some fairly complicated databases in Access in the past, I have not touched one in two years until this week. This is a very silly problem and I give you permission, in advance, to laugh.

I have a table called "Master". The fields include department, Name, date, overdue, and customer. I have created a crosstab query that lists the number of overdues by customer and date. However, I want the user to be able to select the department they want in the report as well as the date range. Whenever I enter the criteria for Department as: [Enter department], I get an error that:

The Microsoft Office Access database engine does not recognize '[Enter Department]' as a valid field name or expression
I get the same error when I set the criteria for my date range as: Between [Start Date?] and [End Date?].

I have also tried to enter it in SQL, to no avail.

I KNOW this has to be something easy and I'll beat myself up when I figure it out, but right now I am so frustrated I can't see the forest for the trees. The criteria works on a simple query, but not my crosstab (although Access Help confirms you can use criteria parameters in a crosstab). Can someone please, please help me?

    Recyan,

Thank you for the link. I will look at it more and see if it helps. Duane's tips were invaluable when I was creating a much more complicated database two years ago!

    Thank you again.
