basically i need to add a total cost to a report, does anybody know what code/formula i would need to type in to get this

    i need to do

    A*B

But B has 3 fields, which are Small, Medium, Large which in the table are linked to values

B has 3 possible values, not fields. What do you want to calculate? You want to retrieve the rate associated with each size and multiply by A? Is A number of days?

Include the Sizes table in the report's RecordSource by joining the tables on the size field. This will make the related rate information available.

Have you considered possibility of the rates changing in the future? If you don't want the rates to be changed for existing records, should save the rate into Rentals table.
