MS Access DB will not open on new computer

    Hello all,

I am a computer technician, and recently built a new computer for a customer. Their old computer had MS office 2003, w/ Access, and they had 1 access file,

The New computer has vista, w/ MS office 2007 in it, and the database file will just not function properly. The switchboard opens up, but i cannot click any of the buttons on the switchboard without getting an 'There was an error executing the command.' error. same with access 2003 installed on this new vista machine

i have transfered the file onto an XP machine useing office 2003, fully updated, but i get the same error, the only machine it works on is the old, barley functional computer that the customers are replacing.

I have next to 0 experiance with access, as i just have not had to deal with it in the past, but i guess everyone starts somewere, i just need help on this one.

any questions on details, just ask, ill provide as much as possible.

    Access on new computer

I have experienced similar issues and they were resolved by simply creating a blank database on the new system and importing the elements (tables, forms, queries, etc) into the new database. If that does not work, try recreating the switchboard.

well, i found the issue, thanks to you comment.

when i imported the elements into a blank database, i got an error saying that the tables couldnt be imported cause a file, which i was total oblivious to, wich housed the table values sepretly from the rest of the data base, was not found.

i looked in the customers backup, and sure enough that file was there, i created a file path on the new computer mimicing the old computer, and placed the other database file in it, worked instantly.

thanks alot for your help. saved me alot of work.
