So I've secured corporate server space with domain authentication, successfully split the DB with a UNC path, and go to start it up for the first time.
And it's really slow...
For anyone who has seen any of my test DB's, my login screen takes 10 seconds to transition to the main menu. Any form that has queries or controls takes 30-90 seconds to fully populate on first use, and 10-20 seconds on all subsequent uses (return to main menu and open form again). The custom headcount code that we wrote that cycles through (currently) 175 records, compares them, and sets values in a field takes just under 10 minutes! Once you're on a page the queries and any updates or changes happen as fast as they should. Any form that doesn't have queries or controls is up immediately as well.
So what's the deal?
I don't know anything about the server. Is it processing power? Is it connection method (VPN client to corporate intranet)? Is it my queries? Is it the custom code?
We've made a lot of changes since the last test DB, so I'll work on getting one up for dissection. In the mean time, is there any specific culprit to go after?
Thanks!
