Try using the Format property of the control instead Format function in expression.

A side note, should that spelling be DtTriage?

Thanks for your reply June7. I am new to this so I have no idea about it. 'DtTraige' is actually a column name in access table where date is stored at the back end.

Triage is a real word so I thought the field name was indicative of 'date of triage'.

Did you try the Format property?

So, just replace format with format property? This is my job at work and I am very new to access.

Format property is a setting you will find on the Format tab of the Property Sheet dialog when you have a data entry control selected in design view.
