Smile Records are not in alphabetical order

I have 116 records in the form frmAndreaSearch. Using the arrow buttons at the bottom of the form page, as well as the buttons I created, I'm finding records that are not in correct alpha sequence. For example, the first name in the table that the form is linked to is Afanador. However, that name appears as record #50 instead of being the first one to display in the form. I do, however, find the record when I key in the name into the search field.

I get an error message when I try to save the database from 2010 to a lower version. I accept the fact that this reduces the pool of people who are able to respond. And yes, I've used lookup fields. I hope that's not the issue. Also, my tblstudent begins with a record number of 2, but the attachment subform starts the records with a #1 -- I wonder if that has an impact?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer advice.

Tables are just a "bucket" of records. If you want them in a specific order then you need to use a query with an OrderBy clause.
