How to avoid duplicate or conflicting data

    Good afternoon.

I'm in the military out at china lake, CA. I am using Access 2007 to develop a watchbill program for our duty sections. Here is what i did. I build the tables and queries all up and then i have the user select to create a new watchbill which opens into another table or database. Once they are there they fill out a form with a combo box dropdown to put different sailors and marines on watch. What I CANNOT FIGURE OUT is how to make it so that when one member is put on watch he will not show up on the other drop downs. i.e. so he will not be put on another watch, thereby standing two watches. Please please please solve this problem. thank you all!

There is a free video tutorial here.
I suggest you watch it and work through an example.

I changed your thread title to be more meaningful to future users than "Please help me out!".

The answer would depend on your table structure and form layout. Generally, you can usually exclude them via a couple of methods. Or you could let them stay in the list and warn the user if they pick somebody already assigned elsewhere, and let them sort it out (they could decide they want the person on the second watch instead of the first).

This video tutorial does not help at all since I have learned that I am using ACCESS 2007 not 2003. this problem seems rather simple. Can someone please help me out?

It's unfortunate that you feel that Access 2007 is so different than 2003 that the video is of no use.
You have been given advice; the technique is applicable. There are other methods as Paul has said.
    Good luck with your project.
