A query can certainly do what you asked for but why would you want the same data in more than one field in your table?
i have a master table of all lamps used in facility....because of other reasons...when i do inventory i 1)need the date of previous inventory 2)the amount on shelf before. so its redundant i know but i need july 09 in all records under field inventory date
Have you tried using the query builder to create the UPDATE query? I would first put the date in the field you want. Then I would add copying one field to the other.
