Exclamation When database is secured using a.mdw file, the action is not getting completed.

    Hi all,

I ahve a access database .accdb file. I have added it to a security file .mdw. Now I have tired to add new users to the existing .mdw file using File-> USer permissions-> USer level security wizard.

After entering all the steps, when I click finish, the action is not getting completed even after 2 hours. The database is small one 1 mb.

I don't believe Access 2007 supports User Level Security (ULS) with an accdb file. I believe it needs to be in the older MDB format.

Yes access directly does not support ULS and .mdw file(2002 format) is used to create that file. Now as I told the action after Finish is clicked is not comleted. Everytime I have to stop the process mid way. May I know the reason???

Your 1st post states you are using an accdb. Is that true or are you using an mbd?

I would not be surprised at any results reported if you do not use an mdb file.

So only .mdb file will have reports generated and accdb files will hang up???

I am by no means proficient with ULS and thought the 2007 support issue might be your problem. I'm sorry but I have no additional suggestions at this time.

There's better ways to secure a database posted in the code repository.
