Creating a user friendly DB and tightning up Security

    Hi,
I'm trying to restrict my Users from having access to the back end of things through the navigation panel, ribbons etc.

Is there anything else I need to restrict?
My only concern is because i have pop up and modal modes on(except on my Main_Menu). The only access to the navigation panel etc is through the QAT. Though with the Modal setting on ..I will lock myself out. Any other ways I can access it?

With the pop up and modal mode I noticed if I want to show up my reports from of the Main_Menu form, They open behind the form. I want it to open in front else no1 can access it

Exactly why I don't use popup and modal.

Holding down the shift key when opening project will override project settings that hide navigation pane and ribbon.

    Fair enough.
What steps do you suggest then?

And once done..how would i be able to get back in to make amendments etc in the near future?

Securing a database is a common topic and lots of references out there. The most I have ever done is hide the navigation pane, disable the standard ribbon/QAT/shortcuts and then build a customized ribbon/QAT. However, as stated, holding down the shift key while opening project overrides those settings so can do design edits.

    Thanks,

Any Idea on the Reports section where it opens up behind a popup/modal form? How do i get it to open up in front - in Print preview if possible?

    *Edit
Ok, I think I found a way - made the Reports themselves as pop ups. Though can't print it. Do I need to put a button on? (which I don't really want). Not Sure if I like popups or Modals anymore. Looking a bit unorganised now :/

Right I'm just going by the Basic hide Navigation Panel and Ribbon settings.
Only Question which I still have is when I open a report (that's exactly what I get) without Print options. How do i get them available? Not going to be a customed ribbon or anything is it?

I have never tried reports as popups. If that means the ribbon File/Print and shortcut menu are not accessible, then I doubt a custom ribbon will be. I guess remaining option is a button on the report.

if not He's a question for you June.

If i put a button on there...
How do I get it to Print with a message saying "Print Report" with Yes/No options
and make the button invisible on the printout?

i.e Print button doesnt show up on the printout

I have customized QAT with just a print button but again, modal might make it inaccessible.

Button has DisplayWhen property on the Properties dialog Format tab. Options are Always, Screen Only, Print Only.

Ok Im losing the popups and modals.
I'm keeping the ribbon, just having the home tab there and the rest (Full menus) hiding from the ACCESS OPTIONS.

How do i just customise the QAT.Dont want the user having access to the ACCESS OPTIONS through there.

I think this will sort all my headaches

I just tested a report with popup and modal.

If the report was popup only then the ribbon was still accessible but the custom ribbon/QAT didn't show.

If the report was modal only then the custom ribbon/QAT showed.

If the report was popup and modal then no ribbon was accessible.

This thread discusses custom QAT http://forums.aspfree.com/microsoft-...at-303789.html

Google the topic for other references.

    What images were missing?

If I remember, took me about a week to get it figured out.
