report ordering when exporting and detail field ordering

new to the forums guys, quick question.

Excel seems to re-order the columns when I export is there a way to prevent this or get around it?

I also have another similar issue in the detail section of the report. I need to hardcode it some how so I can put the lines in the correct order

    Example:

    apple
    orange
    pear

I want to put it in

    pear
    apple
    orange

is there a way to do this?

I can't see how you can do that without some kind of criteria, It is neither descending or ascending so what is it?

If they were in a listbox, combo box, query or table you could by do it by giving them a number and entering them into the table in the order you wanted.

    ID Fruit
    1 pear
    2 apple
    3 orange

so in query you would sort by "MyNumber" and then it would appear as you wanted it.

What I mean to do is like this:

    Revenue
    Direct expenses
    Allocations
    Taxes
    EBIT

in this order vs Alphabetical. Its basically part of a Balance sheet and it needs to be order this way on the report when it dumps to excel. Does this help?

Attached is a sample, what is wrong with the way it places the fields in excel and report?

The excel sheet will be created in C:\Temp so you need to create that folder if you don't have one.

From your original post I thought that you were trying to sort data not field names from a table.

not exactly what I am looking for. I would love to be able to do that.

    please see attached DB.

The whole idea behind this DB is to have users send me a preformated file and I will upload it into the DB. It will then spit it out in excel in a management report. problem is (nam3) does not export the columns in the order that is in the table. Let me know.

    thanks!
