Don't understand requirement. Change status on what entry and go back to what previous entry - a previous record? What does change of some status have to do with previous entry?

Okay i apologize for not being specific. I meant to change entry in forms. I have created form where i can enter discrepancies and update status ( Reviewed or New). Now i want to create a button on switchboard apart from "Open Form" where i can directly click on update form is this possible ?

Probably, but I still don't understand what you mean by update. What do you want to update - the status field?

For that i want a button on switchboard itself where once i click on it, it should ask me who i want to look then i type employees name and then update the fields in form. Now i am more specific towards button should i just create a look up record button ? coz when i created a lookup record button it says that i can't use look up record button on switchboard or is it something i need to link "LookUp" button with form ?

We don't know your application, nor the processes involved, nor the logic of what you are asking. Can you tell us in a few lines
    - what's the application in broad terms
    -what are the subjects involved
-what does status mean (what values are relevant)
    -what causes the change
-how are your forms organized (generally)

You are on the main switchboard
-what event happened to require a change in status
-how does it relate to a previous record (of what)

I think you should have the switchboard open unfiltered form. Do search for record on this form. Review tutorials at: http://datapigtechnologies.com/AccessMain.htm especially the one on Build a Custom Filter in Your Form in the Access Forms: Tips and Techniques section.

I have never built a 'switchboard'. I don't like the wizards, they do things I don't like and the objects they create are harder to edit designs. I build 'menu' forms. Just forms with comand buttons. I also don't use macros, only VBA.
