All data missing from a table

I have a database with 3 tables. 1) customer, 2) customer payments and 3) pass code table. This db has a front end and back end. All the data from Table 1-customers was completely empty yesterday morning when everyone arrived at work. The related records in table 2-customer payments was all there. Luckily we had a backup and I was able to restore the data. The back end is password protected. Does anyone know how this could have happened so that I can be sure it doesn't happen again.

    Thanks for your help.

I assume that since you have the database split, each user has a copy of the front end on their local machines. Can they see the tables from the front end? The only thing that I can think of is that someone went into the table and deleted the records or someone deleted the records via a query or a form.
