    An "iffy" idea

I'm sure that there are many reasons why this idea I have floating in my mind wouldn't be wise which some of you folks can enlighten me. Although whenever I post a thread rarely do I not receive a reply from someone here within the hour, as anyone ever though about a chat room? I don't know, maybe it would be tooc lutter & confusing, but maybe some people can learn from others chatting (relating to databases).

It's just an idea, please don't bite my head off...

Two thoughts (and nobody should bite your head off for throwing out an idea):

Time: to me, admittedly not a chat user, chat implies a scheduled time. I suspect most users are like I am; I check the site when I can, take care of other things when I need to. I wouldn't want to be bound to a "chat is at 10am" timeline.

Archive: I assume what was discussed in the chat room would either be lost or harder to search for users later. If questions get asked/answered in a thread, an easily searchable archive is left behind for other users. Even if they were able to save the chat, presumably it would cover numerous topics, thus making it hard to find a specific topic within.
