I wanted to open my DB after using ULS wizard but couldn't.

It says: You don't have the necessary permissions to use the 'D:\Users\.....\Desktop\Database1.mdb' object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you.

Help please...

This may be a silly question, but do you have read/write permission for that directory (I'm assuming it's on a network or shared drive). Opening an .mdb Access file requires such permission because it has to create and update the associated .ldb file.

It's in D: drive.

Is the D: drive your CD-ROM drive? If so, Access is trying to create the .ldb file on the CD (and failing because you have to burn CDs). Can you copy the database file to your C: drive and connect to it there?

No it's not CD-ROM.

Where ever I put the DB, it's giving me this window. What to do?

The problem is probably with the way you set up the security; you did not set up the permissions correctly for the user name you are try to enter the database with. Try the user "Admin" - if you did not put a password on that user name, or remove the permissions for "Admin", you should be able to open the database and fix the permissions.

im sure i did it right. it's not even asking for username.

i think problem is in .mdw file. how to change it?

If it is not even asking for a user name / password, then a question: are you opening the database just by clicking on the file name? If so, then you are getting the error because MS Access cannot find the .mdw file. Create a shortcut to open the database, so that you can specify the .mdw file location on the command line, in the shortcut target.

Example:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\MS_Access\QRS_V3\Development\QRS V3 Data.mdb" /wrkgrp "C:\MS_Access\qrs_app.mdw" /user appdev

Replace the red with the path and name of your .MDW file. /user=appdev intializes the loging dialog with that user name, but there is no requirement to do that.

Using Windows XP and A2003, I have found that I have to specify the full path to MSACCESS.EXE and put it in quotes; the same for the database name.
