    Database Security

    1. I am using ms access 2003. I discovered that setting up the database password can still be cracked or recovered. Is there any other way to enhance the database password security.

    2. I have seen an mdb example wherein even though the database has no password and the tables are vulnerable for opening, but the user cant still open the tables because there is a message saying no permission. How does that done?

    3. The above statements were asked because I made a custom login permissions in a table (add, edit, delete, view)

    Hi Marianne,
I think you got a pretty good answer to this question in Access World Forums. What do you think?

yep. i also think so. but I was thinking though, supposed that I include the ULS in my application that I will distribute, what if the user dont know how to use the ULS. in that case I made a more simplified approach thru custom permission, wherein I made three tables.

    1st table

    userID1
    username
    userpassword
    userconfirmpassword

    2nd table

    userID2
    AccessID2
    add (yes/no field)
    edit (yes/no field)
    view (yes/no field)
    delete (yes/no field)
    administrator (yes/no field)

    3rd table

    AccessID1
    AccessName***

*** AccessName is the name of the Form

in this way, the permissions are restricted to the YES/No field and base on their AccessName. This is my simplified approach RG.

what I want is that I just wanted to secure my objects inside my database. my problem with ULS is that when I open my database, it prompts with password made with ULS. I dont want that because I made my custom made login. So when that prompt pops up, after that my login also will appear. so there will be two logins.

another question that I haven't tried yet is that, when I made a back-end database with ULS, in the front-end database which is linked to that back end, will that login prompt made in ULS will appear also in front-end?

    thanks RG.
