    You are doing this on a form? Using the Conditional Formatting dialog?

    The conditional formatting is on which control?

    I don't understand the question 'how do I date field when the other place is filled'?

    I used conditional formatting in a field of a subform. Field below Date (), then color orange.
    works. But how do I get another date field is filled, in the same subform, the orange field, run out of color.

    if the date of field1 is greater than today then field1= white
    but

    if the date of field1 is less than today, and if the date has no value field2 then field1 = orange
    but
    If the date of a field is less than today, and if the date is the field2 value then field1 = white

    For orange, try:
    Expression Is: [field1] < Date() AND IsNull([field2])

    everything else will be white.

    Assumes field1 does not have time component.
