Ensuring daa import software version numbers as numbers not dates

Hi, I have recently upgraded to Access to 2007 and have found that when I import a large dataset in the forma of a unicode txt file, access format my data - for example it converts a field that contains the version number of a software to a date. For example 2.12.0 into 02/12/2000. This didn't happen on 2003. WHat is the eaasiest way of fixing this ?

    Regards
    Phil

I don't have acc2007, but I would look to the import wizard, Go to the advanced section and see if there is a way to create a specifications file ( you can also set other properties there). I would set the version number of a software to a text datatype.

This existed in 2003 - perhaps you have used it previously.
